The summer is in the full effect! Lots of opportunity to eat! What’s the best way? Well that is up to you. Here are some helpful and healthy tips to keep you balanced whether you are at a cookout, holiday celebration, BBQ, wedding, birthday or whatever it may be. First, start with a vegetable and finish with a fruit. Try the salad or corn on the cobb first, take your time you have all night. Eating slow gives your body time to feel full. Also, dial down the portion size as well, seeing an empty plate triggers your brain to feel satisfied! Watch for the salad dressing, most have a lot of fat in just two tablespoons, balsamic vinegar is a safe choice. Next move to the main dish, meat or pasta/potato salad whatever it may be. Eat an average portion (six to eight ounce) but don’t over do it. Remember from previous posts, excess protein turns to fat. Also, this will keep you from feeling the, “I’m so full I could burst” feeling. With dessets eat just one portion, the dessert is probably the most concentrated source of fat. If your sweet tooth isn’t satisfied, fear not! Delve into the fruit, and heck its party, eat as much as you want! Enjoy the summer temps and happy sending!
